CNC Machinist - Fredonia, KS


Monday -Thursday 6 PM - 6:30 AM

Friday - Sunday 6 PM - 6:30 AM

Job Summary and Objectives:  

CNC Machinists work with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery to setup materials and proper cutting tools, operation of machinery, and produce parts and tools from metal, plastic or other materials meeting program designated shapes, cuts, and other requirements. Computer numeric controlled equipment is precision machinery that cuts, grinds, or drills into the material.  A general machinist is a skilled craftsperson who sets up and operates precision metal cutting and grinding machines such as lathes, milling machines, drills, shapers, boring mills and grinders.

Essential Functions:

  • Typically works with multiple materials such as aluminum, titanium, sheet metal, and / or steel and loads them onto the machine for setup and cutting, which may include tools, machine parts, production parts, and / or aircraft assembly parts.
  • Able to read, review, and interpret CNC program blueprints and drawings for the specific requirements and specifications used to cut out pieces required for specific use within the program and quality limits and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly workplace.
  • Inspects products and reports any defects that occur from handling. 
  • Operate 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines such as Gantry, Haas, Okuma, SnK, Fadal, Mori-Seiki, Mazak, or OKK vertical and horizontal machines. 
  • Using hand tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


  • Mathematical skills – knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications
  • Mechanical – knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Design – knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
  • Production and Processing – knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Required/ Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.).
  2. Minimum of 2 years experience as a machinist is required.
  3. Previous experience operating 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines such as Gantry, Haas, Okuma, SnK, Fadal, Mori-Seiki, Mazak, or OKK vertical and horizontal machines. 
  4. Prefer experience with hand tools such as calipers and micrometers.
