General Maintenance Worker - Day Shift

Temp to Direct Based on Job Performance

$13.50/hr. - $18.99/hr. Based on Experience

7:30am to 4:00pm

SUMMARY: Perform a variety of repair and installation activities to maintain the condition and appearance of company equipment, buildings and facilities, in accordance with established standards. 

This position reports to Lead Maintenance and to Supervisor/Manager Maintenance. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. 

• Perform minor repairs on production and non-production machinery and to buildings and facilities, including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, welding or fabrication of various sheet metal items. 
• Repair woodwork using carpentry tools. 
• Prepare paint and applies to various structures. 
• Inspect plant equipment such as forklift, hydraulic lift hand trucks, furnaces, compressors, etc., to identify needs for cleaning, adjustment, repair and/or replacement. 
• Install, maintain, modify and repair building and plumbing systems. Include cutting and threading steel pipe, soldering copper pipe, cutting and cementing PVC pipe, and connecting to joints, valves, tanks, unclog sinks, toilets and drains. 
• Use plaster and brick to repair and maintain buildings and facilities. 
• Assist maintenance mechanics in the servicing and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment. Also assist electricians with conduit and pulling of wires. 
• Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of broken parts such as faucets, door knobs, light bulbs, air filters, etc. 
• Install machines and equipment by moving into place mounting non-energized motors, and connecting air, water gas, and oil lines, pumps, and other mechanical parts. 
• Notify lead person of requirements for supplies and materials. 
• Interact with all the facility departments. 
• Move office furniture and related items. 
• Janitorial tasks as requires. 
• Perform any maintenance related tasks capable. 
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. 
• Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Ability to operate a forklift and man lift to approved O.S.H.A. standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
High school diploma or GED and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
