A 65 year old manufacturer of metal tubular (Fluid Delivery)  components and assemblies  used in the Aerospace, Power Generation, nuclear, Oil & Gas, heavy equipment, marine industries requires an experienced General Manager , for an opportunity in SUMMERSIDE, Prince Edward


The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role. Must be a “Results” focused Leader, with a Passion to Create, Measure, and obtain company objectives. Must be focused on Improving all areas of the business , upholding the requirements of the AS9100D Standard and the company’s Quality Management System and the development of new sustainable business opportunities.

Job Summary:

As the Owners representative the General Manger is responsible to deliver the company’s business goals and objectives including all financial and operational targets. In addition, improve the facility’s performance in cost reductions, inventory turns, overhead utilization, production efficiency and quality performance. Must ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the facilities, compliance with industry and client specific standards, contracts, general and specific maintenance, proactively monitor and enhance facility efficiency and manage financial performance.

Job Definition Statement/Outcomes:

  • Responsible to Oversee all Output & Production Elements from the Summerside Facility.
  • Responsible to assist in the creation and delivery of Revenue targets & Budgets, manages Costs of goods production overheads and plant specific costs so as to achieve Profit targets as set out in the facilities Business Plans.
  • To Report to the President and collaborate with Senior Management on all activities and performance related to the Summerside PEI Facility.
  • Responsible for the Strategic Planning and direction of the Summerside PEI Facility
  • Proactively monitor and enhance facility efficiency and manage the Asset pool in the facility  
  • Manage, Plan & Supervise all ‘Manufacturing Activities’ to meet ALL the Goals and Objectives of the company; meet all AS9100 Standard Requirements and all client requirements.
  • Educate, Train, & Motivate staff; comply with all safety, quality and production requirements to meet company & facility goals and objectives and to ensure the maintenance of the facility & housekeeping standards
  • Responsible for maintaining the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Responsible to improve the facility’s performance through cost reductions, inventory turns, overhead utilization, production efficiency, quality performance and innovation opportunities & implementation.
  • In conjunction with Sales & Marketing is a facilitator responsible to generate new Revenue opportunities for the company by adopting and introducing new technology products and processes.
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Establish and implement company policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with ownership, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
  • Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
  • Determine goods and services to be sold, and set prices and credit terms, based on forecasts of customer demand.
  • Develop and implement product marketing strategies including advertising campaigns and sales promotions.
  • Managing Customer relationships in a positive and professional manner o  o Be principle interface between the customer and the Company on O&M matters  o Work with the customer on contract negotiations, implementation of new projects and evaluation of project improvements o 

o High customer satisfaction with the Company’s services is critically important

  • Holds direct responsibility for managing cost by effective approval expenditures, overtime and effective budge monitoring and monthly variance reporting
  • Coordinates and maintains all plant training and communication programs.
  • Maintains effective channels of communication and cooperation among and between plant personnel and other departments and divisions in the organization as appropriate
  • Accomplishes company goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, measuring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing quality systems, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points; monitoring personnel and resources; implementing cost reductions; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating a spirit of cooperation within and between the manufacturing elements.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record keeping, forms of control, budgets and personnel requirements.


  • Must be a Results Driven personality, that will focus on accomplishing set objectives and goals
  • Must be able to Manage and Guide Personnel in a Focused, Positive, Motivating nature  ? Continuous Improvement Mentality-Drive to create business value and efficiency ? Proper documentation, identification, removal, and disposition of rejected material.
  • Conscientiously comply with safety policies and be alert for safety hazards and opportunities to improve safety practices.
  • Resourceful-ability to think creatively to develop practical solutions 

Skill Sets:

  • Min 10 years’ experience in General Manager position or similar experience
  • Min 5 years’ experience in managing a manufacturing environment –Aerospace and Cell production experience is an advantage
  • Business and related financial planning, budgeting, cost analysis experience is necessary
  • Strong leadership, organizational and planning skills. Ability to analyze problems and issue delegating and monitoring assignments and promoting team building and collaboration.
  • Lean manufacturing experience; 5S experience; Six Sigma is beneficial.


  • Other beneficial experience: o Welding, Bending, Machining Experience is beneficial  o Chemical Processing and finishing experience is beneficial o Computer skills – JOB Boss, Microsoft Suite, Cad Software o Strong knowledge of planning (MRP) and Scheduling. o Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with employees o Experience with running JOB Boss (ERP) systems is considered an asset
