-Engineering or Technical Degrees

-Understanding of GD&T

-Model based experience (Enovia/Catia) à this is going to be more and more important moving forward as the complexity of our parts keeps going up.

-Corrective Action experience

-AS9100/AS9102 familiarity

-PPAP or PFEMA

-Experience interfacing with customers/suppliers

-Internal Auditor/Certified Auditor training a plus

-Aerospace/Boeing familiarity a plus, or automotive experience…..are they used to working to specs?

I tend to look for process focused individuals, do they understand manufacturing as a whole, are they able to follow a process and troubleshoot.

Quality Engineer 2

Job Summary: Candidate will monitor, audit, and define what methods and equipment will be used to measure key quality characteristics of the manufacturing process. They work to find defects, but also to find the cause of the defect and develop a solution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Carry out all quality activities for specified customer including
    • Participate in the MRB process
    • Act as quality interface with the customer
    • Facilitate customer audits
    • Work with a cross functional team to effectively manage the launch of new product and changes to existing product
    • Assist in the completion and approval of FAIR’s and PPAP
    • Strategically reduce non-conformance through corrective/preventative action
    • Support the inspection team to ensure that products and processes comply with customer requirements.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing methodology throughout the Quality department
  • Coordinate the corrective action program
  • Facilitate regulatory and 3rd party audits
  • Assist in continuous improvement programs
  • Coordinate internal audit system
  • Develop quality metrics
  • Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the QMS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Engineering degree, OR Cert Quality Engineer (ASQ), OR 5 years in Quality Engineering.
  • Experience in statistics, the development and execution of property testing and training preferred.
  • Experience in PPAP approvals and submittals

Licenses or Certifications:

Certified Quality Inspector recommended

Certified Quality Engineer strongly recommended

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics description described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The work environment of this position is generally performed in an indoor environment in a well lit and ventilated area.  This position is required to work around high-speed machinery and equipment and requires the use of safety glasses.  There is exposure to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors and noise.  Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy and safety awareness.  Safety training is required and provided by the company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.  Specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required for accident prevention.
